house GE water filter leaks?

I have a GE filter I installed on my house cold water line. It was fine until I installed a filter that didn’t really fit & I think it let sediment get up into the pressure valve. Now I have put in the correct filter but water leaks out of the pressure valve unless I have it on bypass. I don’t know what to do – maybe replace the whole unit with a new one? GE 800 number is useless.

the first problem is the brand of filter you have now. LOL i wouldnt recommend anything from them. what you said is probably right, sediment has gotten into the valve and now causing a leak. just go out and buy a new filter system, but make sure its a name brand that you can get filters for for many years to come.
